Grasshopper Club Zürich is facing a significant change in ownership as Chinese investors are set to take over the traditional club. According to the business portal 'tippinpoint', the transaction could be finalized as early as this week. The current owners, who also own Los Angeles FC, are stepping back and have excluded the last Swiss bidders from the process. A Zurich family office had considered a takeover but did not succeed. Since April, the American owners have been negotiating exclusively with the Bridge Football Group, led by Eric Li Ying. Li has connections to TikTok founder Zhang Yiming, which adds to the intrigue surrounding this takeover. The investor group already holds stakes in several football clubs, including Dutch FC Den Bosch and Italian FC Pro Vercelli. Additionally, the Bridge Football Group Switzerland AG has been established to operate in the fields of football, sports, and media.
